This stylish renovation of a terrace house on a very narrow site in Surry Hills converted a rundown dark house into a light filled, breezy home. Demolishing the dangerous existing staircase with a hardwood open tread stairs made them safe to use and also allowed light to the sitting room below.
We designed and built a stylish art deco balustrade to be removable to allow furniture to be moved easily up and down the tight access. The kitchen was remade and incorporated Caeserstone bench top and glass splash back. Two skylights installed overhead flooded the kitchen with natural light. Travertine tiles were used on the floor inside and outside and the level transition between areas gave the feel of vast space. Tight access to the site for building was overcome with clever architecture and experience in building on difficult sites.
