Set in the beachside suburb of Coogee, this California bungalow needed modernising and some TLC.
We appointed our most experienced Foreman to oversee this well thought out design by David Boyle Architects. Randwick Council insisted on keeping the front of house as a traditional Californian bungalow façade to ensure that the streetscape was maintained.
A very modern design which melts into the rear of the house, together with bespoke furniture constructed from recycled timber, detailed joinery and all the external doors and windows drew on all our best carpentry skills.
A sloping site from front to rear allowed us to excavate a garage below garden level and playroom/ office above which stands out loud and proud from the existing house.
A compact spa and pool link the house with the rear garage and office space.
The extension to the main house is a lightweight timber structure, further highlighting the recycled timber used throughout the property.
The garage is solid concrete and blockwork clad in timber battens which reaches back to the house to join both buildings in harmony.
Transformed into a seamless, functional and modern property, we know the owners and their young family will enjoy living in Coogee for many years to come.
