Paddington 2002

Architect: Sarah Ferguson

Style: Sandstone workers cottage with modern interiors

Owners: Private

This original Peter Myers redesigned sandstone cottage was lovingly brought into the 21st century by architect Sarah Ferguson.

Keeping as much of the Peter Myers renovation as possible, we added a second storey comprising bedroom, storage and bathroom.  We redesigned the rear to incorporate a new bathroom and bedroom to the original shell.

Keeping the front rooms as a study and sitting room gave a cosy feel to the house as you entered from the street.  In the original sitting room we reconfigured this making kitchen, dining and sitting room with the stairs tucked in the corner as not to impose on the room.

The garden was tidies up and we installed the original sandstone fireplace to the garden area as bench space.  An extremely tight access even by Paddington terms tested everyone’s patience but despite this a beautiful house was a great result for all involved.
